We had dinner at Bamboo Basket tonight.
During my Masters, I decided to do the research stream and ended up in a group of 3 (I think most groups were groups of 4), with two wonderful woman. They both left Brisbane about 2 years after we graduated. One returned. One still lives over in Perth.
We had dinner together for the first time since the wedding over in Perth.
Our research project was on Ludwig's angina.
Here's a link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludwig%27s_angina. The link is for an explanation of Ludwig's Angina, it's not to our research. I've been meaning to try and get my hands on a copy of the published article and compare it to our thesis.
No, it has nothing to do with the heart. Angina refers to pain/strangling, it's an infection of the floor of the mouth. Our research project looked at the natural progression of the disease and the diet modifications/speech pathology interventions required.
It was published in 2010 with a string of new names attached. I really need to get my hands on the published version.
They reflect on our brief year of research and ask "why?" and "are you crazy?" and right now my answer is completing it feels like such a pipe dream that it doesn't feel crazy. It feels like it's never going to happen.
I have a meeting with my supervisors tomorrow, hoping to get some inspiration on how to restart my research. Since August life, in general, derailed a little (a lot) for our family.
